Cleanup Activity along Lake Biwa

EnvironmentCulture & Community

ROHM is located nearby Lake Biwa- the biggest lake in Japan, and some of its water resources come from Lake Biwa as well. We hold annual cleanup activity in July for citizens from Biwa area to clean the lake surroundings and keep the area as clean and beautiful as possible, in order to show our appreciation since the company founded in 2016.

The water used in the ROHM Shiga factory from Lake Biwa will be returned back to the lake in an even-cleaner condition after processed. Therefore, one of ROHM's business activities is to help purify water in Lake Biwa.

Participating in “Mowing Yoshi-Plants” Activities by the Citizens

Environment

ROHM employees take part in the “Otsu Citizen’s Lake Biwa Mowing Yoshi-plants” event sponsored by Otsu City every year. The reed zone Yoshi grows on the water side is an essential place for the preservation of the ecosystem as water quality purification of the Lake Biwa and the place of waterfowl and fish. By cutting reeds that are dead in winter, the growth of new shoots is promoted.
Going forward, we will actively work on the preservation and maintenance of biodiversity in Lake Biwa.
