On October 21, 29 fifth grade students from Seiran Elementary School　(Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture)
visited our Shiga factory for a factory tour.
The purpose of this tour is to provide an opportunity for each student to think about their dreams and
options for the future by directly experiencing the importance and joy of manufacturing, as well as the
attitude of the workers and their passion for their jobs.

On the day of the tour, ROHM provided an overview of the company and its products, as well as a tour of
the clean room where manufacturing actually takes place and an explanation of the role of ancillary
facilities such as gas plants, liquefied hydrogen tanks, and wastewater treatment facilities that are
necessary for semiconductor manufacturing.
The students and employees also had a question-and-answer session about manufacturing and products
to deepen their understanding of the role semiconductors play and the importance of manufacturing.

After the factory tour, students commented, "I was happy to learn about the structure of semiconductors
and the environment and facilities needed to manufacture products," "Through the factory tour, I wanted
to study the semiconductors used in everyday life," "I was surprised at how small the chips actually are
under the microscope, and I wanted to know more about how such small products can be made.
